Design:

HD picture quality is phenomenal while SD ranges from just proper to OK. The SD quality really depends upon your broadcasting source; larger high quality SD implys good SD image. Blacks are just right, but I consider the processing engine goes a chunk overboard and saturates the blacks to a level where important levels are misplaced. I haven't came upon how you can tone down the blacks, even after shutting off all the processing. Colors seem to actually come out, if it's an extreme amount of you presumably can alter RGB within the menus. I've tried very hard to identify any flash lighting or clouding in an all black againground but haven't found any; perhaps I received a terribly just right construct (your build may vary). This is an edge-lit LCD and there are inherit weaknesses. On a pure black againground, you are going to see very slight uneven lighting on the perimeters but certainly not noticeable throughout commonplace viewing and even darker films. Motion image quality may be very smooth and artifacts are stored to a minimum; if reality be told, that is the easyest picture I've ever viewed on any HDTV. It's so clean, that a huge variety of programming has a 3D-like look to them.
Adjustment Controls:
This TV has plenty of choices for tuning the image. There's same outdated, dynamic, pure, and image modes. Each mode has it can be own saved settings. For my standard viewing, I started with the film environments while in Standard mode and made a couple of adjustments to brighten up the screen. Movie mode has a "warm2" shade tone that I changed to "standard" due to the fact that I don't like heat colours for traditional viewing.
